Beer Matters Worthy Website Award
REDHOOK
We have two worthy winners this issue, the Hidden Brewery from United Kingdom and Red Hook Ale from the United States, whose interactive website (www.redhook.com) is one of the best we’ve seen.
It’s designed as if you’re standing at a laid back, red brick US bar, complete with pumps, animated bar tender and a mirror reflecting what’s happening in the bar behind you.
As well as all the required information about this Seattle brewer and its beers (including ESB, Blackhook Porter, IPA and Blonde), you will find a mountain bike game, red hook radio and the mystic monkey with whom you can converse happily for many...um...minutes.
But the bartender is really what wins the BotW Worthy Website award for the brewery, (and not just because our Editor thinks he’s cute). The beer guru, as he is called, is most entertaining to watch; as well as wiping glasses and winking, he’ll go under the bar and emerge wearing a wrestling mask or giant alien head. It certainly had us tittering. Bravo Red Hook.
THE HIDDEN BREWERY
Our second award goes to the recently redesigned website of Wiltshire brewer The Hidden Brewery (www.thehiddenbrewery.com).
This site will have you playing ‘find the pint’ in different landscapes such as Stonehenge, whilst simultaneously uncovering information about the Hidden Beers (including Old Sarum, Fantasy and Quest).
If your machine is slow it may take a bit of time to get through these, but persevere! Once you have found the location of the hidden brewer.....
