The strange world of beer
Our kind of pump clip All right we know this issue publishes in summer and Easter was a long time ago – but we just had to mention the seasonal pump clip produced by Bateman’s to celebrate its Easter beer.
The beer, Eggs-B, was a homage to the brewery’s flagship ale XB: a dark amber coloured bitter brewed with a combination of Maris Otter pale ale and chocolate malts. To celebrate Easter the cask beer came with a pump clip made entirely out of chocolate.
It must have made for an interesting talking point at the bar, if it lasted that long. It certainly didn’t in our office. (Very tasty it was too – Ed).
Did you know...?
Last issue we said that cenosillicaphobia is the fear of an empty glass. Well here’s another one for you: hyalinopygophobia. Specifically, the fear of the bottom of a glass.
We sympathise. It’s is frightening when you can see the bottom of your glass – it means the beer is gone. But let’s face it, glass bottoms are pretty useful. Without them, the beer would fall out.
