The strange world of beer
Each issue we feature some of beer’s stranger and funnier stories as well as all sorts of other nonsense.
Toast tribute
A brewer and eccentric Antipodean artist has paid a personal tribute to the late great Michael Jackson using the underrated medium of toast.
Maurice Bennett, beer lover and small brewer, created a portrait of the beer hunter using more than 4,000 slices of cocktail toast.
“I had a deep admiration for Michael Jackson and was sadden to hear of his passing last year,” said Maurice.
The Toastman, as he is known, is one of New Zealand’s most renowned artists and also the man behind Bennetts beer.
The gigantic ‘toast art’ is currently on display at a local beer and wine wholesalers in Wellington. Check out: www.mauricebennett.co.nz and www. www.bennettsbeer.co.nz for more information.
Beer pong legends
Beer Pong has taken the United States by storm and is slowly making an impression in the UK.
It’s a game in which players throw a ping pong ball across a table into one of several glasses of beer on the other side. When a ball lands in a cup, the defending team must consume that cup’s beer. The aim of the game is to eliminate the other team’s cups.
Simple enough and good fun at a party, but there are some people put there that take it extremely seriously and there’s even a world series yearly in Las Vegas.
These people are extremely good at it too, check out some of the vids on the web such as this one: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/ 765521/the_best_beer_pong_video _ever/
