Buying beer online can be your gateway to exciting brews all over the globe. So we've got Melissa Cole to put together a guide to not only some of the most recommended websites in the UK and US but how to make sure that you stay safe when you're shopping on the internet.

No matter how internet savvy we think we all are these days there’s always the danger that the scammers are one step ahead. I mean, granted none of us are likely to fall for the emails that tell us we’ve won national or state lottery – or that we’ve got a long-lost relative from a far-off continent who has left us millions – but some websites that are offering things we really, really want can look pretty convincing.

1. Make sure you’re getting a good deal • Shop around by using price comparison sites and multiple search engines • When comparing prices, check that the advertised price includes everything you have to pay, for example tax and delivery charges

2. Know who you’re dealing with
• Check the trader’s details on their website, including their geographic and email addresses
• Don’t assume ‘.uk’ means that the seller is based in the UK
• Read all trader.....
