The full results of the first World Beer Awards 2007
Roger Protz, chairman of judges, says: “This is an exciting time for beer drinkers. More and more craft brewers throughout the world are making beers bursting with distinctive and exciting aromas and flavours. The judges have been overwhelmed by the quality of the beers entered for the competition and it has been an immensely difficult task choosing the winners. I hope that not only the winners but all the beers in the competition will gain greater awareness and will delight drinkers, especially those new to beer.” So 2007 was the first year of the World Beer Awards and, if the response we’ve had is anything to go by, these annual awards are going to be the some of the industry’s biggest and best.
Admittedly, there are already a few well-established beer awards, but it was our aim to run an annual award that really speaks to the consumer (ie. you!).
And by using this magazine and our website as vehicles, we’re really going to shout about the world’s best beers.
With innovation in brewing every day, and people’s differing taste buds, next year’s results may well be different – but that’s the beauty of beer.
For this year we received literally hundreds of entries from around the world. Our international panel of judges tasted their way through beers from the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Australia and beyond to find the winners of each style. These style winners then went head to head at a blind tasting event, where the UK’s top brewers selected the best beers.....
