Nose : Heady, spicy and promises dryness on the palate. The fruit presence (lemon and other citrus) is not overloaded. Almond/marzipan notes develop strongly.
Palate : Immediately dry, but not lacking sweetness. Bitter citrus flavours. Strong alcoholic notes and warmth.
Finish : Very dry, bitter and hoppy. Light lingering malt and pineapple fruitiness.
Comments : The dryness and complexity are impressive but this golden ale – widely recognised as the benchmark for the tripel style – is too obviously alcoholic.
