Nose : Buttery malt. Blackcurrants. Plums.
Palate : Bitterness edges out smooth, malty sweetness. Firm background fruitiness: suggestions of blackcurrants and plums. Hop resins supply a spicy counterpoint.
Finish : Dry. Malty, with nutty and roasted flavours. The hoppy bitterness is a little peppery.
Comments : A delightfully mellow yet complex old ale, but lacks the full character of the caskconditioned version.
