Nose : Grainy, creamy toasted malts give way to a vinous fruitiness (suggestions of raspberry). Traces of pear drop and almond.
Palate : Full, rich maltiness with roasted notes. Fruit (faint pineapple) is always present, along with almonds and a liquorice-like bitterness.
Finish : Malty sweetness fades as the finish dries. Roasted grain and liquorice-like hoppiness take over.
Comments : Appealing deep red beer with a neat, frothy white collar, but more bitter than expected.
