Springhead Roaring Meg

Abv: 5.5%
Type: Blonde Beer
Bottle size: 500ml
Website: www.springhead.co.uk
Country: England
Brewery : Springhead Brewery
Price:
Reviewed in: Beers of the World Issue 5

Tasted by Jeff Evans in issue 5.
Nose : Honey-like maltiness with citrus hop notes emerging.
Palate : Crisp, bitter, hoppy and drying, with a smooth malt underbelly. Some tart lemon notes add a touch of sharpness.
Finish : Bitter, hoppy and dry.
Comments : A full-flavoured blonde ale named after a cannon that was used by Roundheads to destroy Goodrich Castle, near Monmouth, in the Civil War. The overall impression is that it’s a touch too bitter and could use more of a malty balance. Once bottle conditioned at 5.7%, now a little weaker and filtered.
Score : 7.25
