Country: England
Brewery : Highwood Brewery Ltd

Reviewed in: Beers of the World Issue 5

Tasted by Jeff Evans in issue 5.
Nose : Nutty and malty at first, making room eventually for a gentle, earthy hop note and a light waft of orange.
Palate : Nutty, malty and bitter to begin, with a little roasted grain character. Hops push through to add dryness and a touch of astringency, but there’s always a background sweetness to even things out.
Finish : Nutty, malty and bitter with increasing hop character.
Comments : A fairly robust, ‘old-fashioned’ tawny ale with lots of flavour.
Score : 7.5
