Abv: 4.1% Type: Fruit Beer Bottle size: 250ml Country: Belgium Brewery : Brouwerij Huyghe
Price: Reviewed in: Beers of the World Issue 5
Nose : Bitter cranberry juice; creamy malt/wheat base; tart lemon.
Palate : Who remembers the polar bear that used to advertise Cresta soft drinks in the 1970s with a yell of 'It's frothy, man!'? This has a similar creamy consistency, but is not - quite - as sweet. the cranberry fruitiness is very loud but the balance is just about rescued by a bold tartness.
Finish : Fruity and bittersweet, dradually becoming pleasantly tart.
Comments : Cranberry works better than many fruits when added to beer, because it is naturally bitter.
