Abv: 4.2% Style: Traditional golden beer Bottle size: 500ml Country: England Brewery : Lion Brewery
Price: Reviewed in: Beers of the World Issue 7
Nose : Inviting nutty, chocolaty malt.
Palate : A bittersweet malt and hop mix, but it’s hard to discern the full flavours because of a dominating wet paper
oxidation character.
Finish : Bittersweet malt with hops building and gentle liquorice notes.
Comments : Sadly, it all goes downhill after the aroma, with oxidation obscuring all the intended flavours of what, in its cask form, is an enjoyable, malty-sweet Northern ale.
Score : 6.25
