Nose : Chocolate, smoked malt and damsons.
Palate : Bitter dark malts dominate, with lots of chocolate and coffee flavours. Also smoky, with tart fruit notes.
Finish : Bitter, biscuity and dry with plain chocolate lingering. Surprisingly hoppy for a stout.
Comments : The bitterness, smoky notes and tart fruit don’t really come together. Not as smooth or as successful as the Cherry Stout (above) from the same brewery.
