Alcazar Gaoler's Ale

Abv: 7.5%
Type: Strong Ale
Bottle size: 500ml
Country: England
Brewery : Alcazar Brewing Company
Price:
Reviewed in: Beers of the World Issue 6

Tasted by Jeff Evans in issue 6.
Nose : Earthy, sweet malt and some vinous fruits. A touch of roasted grain and a pleasant whiff of cough drops.
Palate : Dark malts lead the way, but this is mostly sweet with an alcoholic warmth. Berry and tropical fruits swish around the mouth. Again, a little earthy.
Finish : Rather mellow, with sweet malt leading. Nutty, roasted malt bitterness emerges, along with a little tangy hop.
Comments : A peculiar red beer featuring the Sheriff of Nottingham on the label, which also suggests that the beer be enjoyed as an after-dinner drink.
Score : 7.5
