Nose : Appealing piney freshness, with gently toffeeish malt in support.
Palate : Silky, rich malt, a pleasant alcoholic warmth as befits a winter ale, and a developing banana fruitiness. The
overall effect is of banana toffee, enhanced by citrus notes from the hops. The spruce tips added in the brewhouse contribute a little piney coolness.
Finish : Malty and sweet, but never cloying, with a fine bitter edge.
Comments : The piney additions enhance rather than dominate this sound, dark copper-coloured ale.
