Alaskan Smoked Porter 2005

Abv: 6.5%
Type: Smoked Beer
Website: www.alaskanbeer.com
Country: USA
Brewery : Alaskan Brewing Company
Price:
Reviewed in: Beers of the World Issue 5

Tasted by Jeff Evans in issue 5.
Nose : Big peaty, smoky aromas with a light undercurrent of caramel.
Palate : Aromatic smoky flavours abound. More traditional dark malt flavours are there, too, all balanced by sweetness and a spicy warmth from the alcohol.
Finish : Coffee, bitter chocolate and smoky malt dominate the aftertaste, which is also dry and surprisingly hoppy.
Comments : A deep brown beer with garnet highlights, vintage-stamped and enjoying a cult following. An acquired taste but brilliantly constructed nonetheless.
Score : 8.25
